🎸 Kid Rock Built a Loud Nashville Broadway Home for Working-Class Fans ❤️

At midnight on Broadway, the lights still burn, the crowd still swells, and a Detroit rebel becomes a Nashville neighbor.

Kid Rock did not simply attach his name to a glowing sign. He helped raise a massive honky-tonk and steakhouse that changed the feel of Lower Broadway and gave his working-class fans a room that matched their own loud pride.

Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse opened as a $20 million four-story venue with a sprawling rooftop and a stage and bar on every floor. It was built to hold thousands, spill music through massive windows, and serve listeners who wanted country twang with rock grit.

The plan took root long before the doors opened. In 2014, Kid Rock joined forces with veteran Nashville hospitality operators Steve Smith and Al Ross, the minds behind historic institutions such as Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. They acquired the property at 217-219 Broadway. When the aging structure was deemed unsafe, they chose the harder path and tore it down instead of patching a tired shell.

From that cleared lot rose a custom sanctuary designed around Kid Rock’s unapologetic identity. The space mirrors the fans who followed him through decades of shifts and controversies. It feels intentionally unpretentious, noisy, and built for people who want music without velvet ropes.

It became a gathering place for listeners who wanted their country music served with a heavy dose of Detroit rebellion.

That rebellion found a permanent home. Robert Ritchie moved his life and operations to Middle Tennessee, putting down real roots instead of treating the venue as a distant business deal. His presence often goes beyond a leaseholder’s name. He steps up without a setlist, trades verses with country artists, and lets the night run past its scripted end.

The towering neon sign on Broadway now reads like a thank you. The strategic handshake behind the building, the risky demolition, the $60 million appraisal, and the spontaneous after-midnight sessions all tell the same story. Kid Rock went from outsider to embraced fixture of the South.
